This on VmWare wouldn't install and crashed multiple times when installing it however. It merely kept flashing a black bootup screen.
Here's the remedy.
On a mac, when the VM file is created by you, you go in the desktop to it.
Right click to the file and go to "Show Package Contents"
A folder should open up with a couple of files.
Edit the .VMX file for your install to your favourite text editor.
Add this line: firmware = "efi"
Save the file.
Restart the VM and you must be off to the races!
